I Mephistopheles vengono dalla Tasmania e suonano technical death metal, ispirandosi a band quali Athiest, Deeds of Flesh, Opeth, Cynic, e Deicide. Formatisi nel 2004, hanno sempre mantenuto death e black quali generi di riferimento, senza tralasciare influenze jazz.
Il secondo full-length, dal titolo Sounds Of The End, uscirà via Willowtip Records il 1° ottobre. Le dieci tracce sono state registrate ai Red Planet Studio da Jake Long, l'artwork è di Bill Dean (Psycroptic, Iciclan, Excarnated) mentre del libretto si è occupato il batterista dei Cock And Ball Torture, Sascha Pahkle.
